The Culture Shock Community Project & Venti's Cafe team up again for another evening of fun an excitement with the Cherry City Derby Girls.

Come join us for a very special Masquerade Party! Come dressed to impress, with your face hidden behind a mask of your chosing, and enjoy the New Year's revelry...only revealing yourself at the stroke of MIDNIGHT (and the heralding of 2010 - which promises to be an awesome year!!)

Events begin at 9pm. Prizes and surprises all through the night. Killer music and dancing. Happy Hour specials ALL NIGHT for those who come wearing a mask. Free entry! 21 and over.

THE VIBE: We want to offer a fun, cozy affordable new year's eve alternative to the bar scene & expensive events. It is being held in a dance studio & the music will have a VARIETY of dance music including tribal/world music, swing, trance, a bit of disco, etc.

DJs will include: Chelsea Bennett (more coming soon as they are confirmed).

While some alcohol will be available, the focus is on dancing & socializing. There will be a mellow chill space for lounging.

This is a NO SMOKING space.

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR:
This event is being organized by lesbians. It is intended as a fun affordable party space for lesbians and queer & bi women and is inclusive of genderqueers, transwomen &transmen.

It is not a space for men, they are not invited. Thanks for respecting the organizers' intentions. Please don't invite or bring along men. (We are making this clarification because we've already had to respond to women passing on the invite to (cis) males).

That's what Julia Louis-Dreyfus said to me point-blank in the second Courageous Conversations video we filmed on the set of "The New Adventures of Old Christine" a few weeks ago.

Julia was trying to make a point about what NOT to say to someone who may disagree with you about the importance of marriage equality, but she may have gotten a little carried away.

Thousands of people across America are giving the gift of equality this holiday season by having heartfelt one-one-one talks with a friend or family member.

We're calling them "Courageous Conversations" and two well-known friends of marriage equality -- Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Eric McCormack -- liked the idea so much, they filmed a special video for our community.

The Courage Campaign's marriage equality research shows that these kinds of conversations are critical to changing hearts and minds. And, because our "Courageous Conversations" campaign has been such a huge hit, we're going to build it into a year-long campaign in 2010.
