The Capitol Forum is holding a special show on Sunday, August 9th at 7 PM at the Southside Speakeasy. The theme is: "Show your Pride". No cover charge. Open Show. MC's Miss Capitol Forum 2009 Constance Craving and Miss Southside Speakeasy R'Deena. Raffle & Auction. In keeping with the theme we are asking people to donate things they have made for the raffle & auction. Such as Paintings, Jewelry, Quilts, Afghans, Stained Glass items, Wood Craft items (bird houses, planters, jewelry boxes, etc..), and anything else one can think of. Please be sure to put your name on the item so we can acknowledge who made the item. Other items for the raffle & auction also welcomed. Funds raised will go to purchase supplies for Capitol Forum Pride Booth and to our 2009 charities.

Mt. Saint Helen's Trip

Lavender Womyn's 6th Anniversary - August 2nd @ 2:00pm

It's time to celebrate Lavender Womyn's 6th anniversary with some food, games and fun on August 2nd @ 2:00pm

This is the year Lavender Womyn groups expanded beyond Oregon and into Central Kentucky. Plus, our Lavender Womyn Personals, has grown another 500 women in this past year. This is definitely reason to celebrate!

The event will be held at our house (Kim and Kathy). Many of you have been to our home before and know we have lots to do, including volleyball, badminton, basketball, sandbox and trampoline.  If you need an address, call me at 503-581-5102.

This is a potluck event, so bring your favorite side dish to share with others, and whatever beverage you'd like to drink for yourself. This is a family event, so absolutely no hard liquor (beer, wine, etc. is okay).

We do have a barbecue grill, so if you'd like to bring your own meat/veggie burger and cook you're own food, you are welcome to do that.

Be sure to bring the kids. We have a huge sandbox, teeter totter, and trampoline. Come on out and play!!

You may also want to bring a chair, blanket or whatever you'd like to sit on. We have lots of space, but not a lot of chairs, unless you don't mind sitting on the grass.

LGBTQ and Friends Picnic at Avery Park - Corvallis

A good old-fashioned picnic in the park! Come enjoy the supper we'll provide, hosted bar, games, sunshine, and friends, all while helping Basic Righs Oregon ensure equality for LGBTQ Oregonians.

 

In honor of the passage of the Safe Schools Act, which puts teeth into Oregon's anti-bullying law, we'll organize picnic games such as a three-legged race. Brought to you by our mistress of ceremonies, the fabulous Miss LaVerne Lydell!

 

Suggested admission donation $25.

Grants Pass Lavender Womyn - 1st Gathering TODAY!

Grants Pass Lavender Womyn is having their 1st get together today.  Here are the details:

This Saturday, July 25th, at the coffee shop on 6th and J street in downtown Grants Pass called the Dancing Otter.  Let's plan on 6 o'clock so we are there before the open mic thing starts, but can still stick around for it, if we want.  Adults only please.

PFLAG Summer Potluck - Corvallis

PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgendered People)

We are hosting a summer potluck and would love all of you from the different LGBTQ communities/groups to join us. 

When: August 17th, Monday at 5:30pm (note time,date and location change from usual meetings)

Where: First Congregational Church, 4515 SW West Hills Rd, Corvallis (go west on West Hills from the intersection of 35th/Western/West Hills)

The potluck will be in the Outdoor Picnic Grove area which is behind the church, just East of the back parking lot down in the trees

We will provide plates, silverware, napkins and drinks

Please bring a LARGE potluck dish to share with the group. We will need to carry the tables down from the church before hand, so PLEASE if at all possible RSVP so we can be sure and have enough seating etc. for everyone. Children are very welcome.

Basic Rights Oregon - The Bus Project

On the Road to Marriage Equality (and now we've got The Bus to help us get there)

This summer we're talking about marriage. To a whole lot of people.

We're pleased to announce an exciting partnership between Basic Rights Education Fund and the Bus Project, an organization that mobilizes young people in hands-on democracy.

Together we have set a goal of reaching 15,000 Oregonians this summer. We're having real conversations about why marriage matters to committed gay and lesbian couples.

This means opening up a dialogue with people who need to learn more before they'll support marriage equality. And it means knocking on a lot of doors and stuffing a lot of envelops.

To reach our goal - and to win the freedom to marry in Oregon - we need you to get engaged in this education campaign! All we need is three hours of your time. Seriously. Just three hours can make a world of difference. Email Thomas@basicrights.org to get involved.
