Iris Pride Festival - Lincoln City

Capitol Forum Needs Raffle Items

The Capitol Forum is in need of items for our raffles and auctions at our fundraiser shows and auctions.  Our next big auction is Sunday, September 13th. If you have anything we can use please drop them off at the Southside Speakeasy in the name of Capitol Forum (or Chuck Simpson). Or you can send an e-mail to thecapitolforum@aol.com or call Chuck at 503-999-8711 for pick up. We can use gift baskets, gift certificates, t-shirts, candy, candles, unopened bottle of Wine & Liquor, DVD's, CD's, and lots more.  Gift certificates can be for anything: meals, gifts, hair cuts, services, etc.. Speakeasy Pub/Bar Information

Here's some information from Chuck about the Speakeasy Pub/Bars:

Northside Speakeasy  - I recently visited the Northside Speakeasy Deli & Bar and enjoyed my visit and food. The good looking young man (Brock) that works there days (Weds thru Sat) was very polite & helpful. They are open 9 AM to 12:30 AM Sunday thru Thursday and 9 AM to 2:30 AM on Friday & Saturday. They only have Beer & Wine now but hard alcohol is coming. They have a great menu which will be expanded as time goes on. They even have the great Thompson Burger named after our friend Terri who used to cook at the Southside Speakeasy. Good food, good friends, and lottery machines in a comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy. The address is 2505 Liberty St. N., Suite 120, Salem. Located by Applebees and next to Starbucks - near Fred Meyer North. 503-391-5637. The sign still says Joe's Deli but will be changed soon. 

Southside Speakeasy - Tuesday nights they now have  DJ Chris playing music for dancing while everyone enjoys Gabi's Love Shack. You can send notes to other people in the bar and maybe meet the love of your life. Gabi also have games and strange races where guests can have fun. All this and the drink specials start at 9 PM. The drink specials are $2 screwdrivers and domestic long neck beers for $1.75. Who knows what other surprises they will come up with. You'll have to come out next Tuesday to see my new t-shirt. I always compliment DJ Chris on his great t-shirts and he surprised me with a gift of a great t-shirt, which I will be wearing this coming Tuesday. Also Tuesday is steak night - you get a great steak dinner for $8.95. Also on the 1st & 3rd Tuesday ISCWE holds their meetings there at 7 PM. Wednesday nights they have DJ Matt playing starting at 9 PM along with great drink specials. The drink specials are domestic draft pounders at $1.50, micro pounders at $2.50, and well drinks at $3. The newest special they have is a special for $8.95 that includes a cheezeburger (with side) and a glass of Widmer (and you get to keep the glass). The glass looks great and is about 18 oz. I like this special as a normal cheeseburger is $6.95 plus a Widmer pounder is $3.75 which is normally $10.70 and you get it all plus you get to keep the glass for $8.95 (saving $1.75 which makes this coupon queen very happy). Also they have free Texas Holdum' Poker which I play - I got 1st Place this Wednesday (had to brag). The Widmer special ends when the grill closes about 9 PM but starts at 11 AM which would make a great lunch.

Capitol Pride 2010

Capitol Pride 2010 starts with Capitol Pride's annual membership meeting to be held Wednesday, September 30th at Salem Spirit of Life Church, 1800 Hines St. SE, Salem. The meeting starts at 6 PM. The 2010 Capitol Pride board of directors will be voted on that evening. Five board member positions are open. Only those who have filled out and signed a new membership form before or on that night can run or vote for the Board of Directors. Forms will soon be on the Capitol Pride web site at: www.capitolpride.org  Also on the web site is a link for a Capitol Pride Survey to express your opinions on location sites and more.

BUNCO!! - Our Most Popular Event

That's right ladies...it's time for Bunco on September 13th with social hour from 1:00pm - 2:00pm, and bunco starting at 2:00pm.  It's going to be held at Kelley's home (same place we had it in February).  So, start warming up your wrist and practice your dice rolling to see if you can roll those Bunco's!!  If you've never been to a Lavender Womyn event before, then now's the time to go.  This is a great, interactive game where you get a chance to meet many new women.  You are constantly changing tables and switching partners.  If you have any ideas about sitting quietly in a corner, you can forget that.  This game will pull you in, and you'll be laughing and having fun before you know it.  If you can roll dice, then you can play this game.  The cost is $5 to play, which gets distributed to the winners of Bunco.  We will also have a traveling prize, which is always a lot of fun to toss around during the game, and see who gets to take it home.

Our Bunco events are one of our most popular and fun events.   Come join us for a great time.  Kelley lives in an apartment complex and has access to the clubhouse, which we'll be using for our bunco event.  There is also a BBQ gas grill and a kitchen.  Plus, as a bonus...if the weather is nice we can go swimming in the outdoor pool.  So, be sure to bring your swimming suit with you, just incase. Don't forget your $5 to play Bunco, and we'll also play the 50/50 game where you get to take home half of the money in the pot, so be sure to bring some moola to play that as well.  The tickets are only .50 cents each, but you can buy as many as you want to increase your chances of winning.  Items to bring:  1)  $5.00 to play Bunco.  2)  Food to share.  3)  Your own beverage.  4)  Your swimming suit. Transgender Support

What: A support structure for transgendered people and their partners. Meetings provide a venue for people to share their successes and questions regarding gender expression, and connect with others. We will provide a social venue for people to connect, guest speakers or resource specialists to share information, and time to share important parts of our own lives with one another.  

When: Every other Wednesday evening starting on September 16 from 7:00-9:00 pm. Subsequent meetings on Sept 30, October 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 11, etc.

Who: The complete alphabet soup of gender from FTM, MTF, CD, Questioning, GenderQueer, and NOTA (none of the above)! This is open to anyone in the greater Corvallis area and beyond. We are inclusive and encourage anyone who is questioning gender or gender expression, or their parents, friends or allies to attend and connect with others.
