Lavender Womyn Dining Out - Corvallis

 

As all of you are preparing for the holidays and all that they encompass, consider taking a reprieve and gathering together for a relaxing evening of good food and companionship.  

This month, we will be dining at Aomatsu Japanese Restaurant.  They serve traditional Japanese food and have a full sushi bar - lighter fare, perfect for the holiday season!

Needs for Sunday's Show - Salem

We can all give money again and again to area charities and organizations through tipping, raffles, etc. but please remember that this coming Sunday's benefit in Salem at the Southside Speakeasy (6pm, $5 cover) is about funding for SUPPLIES for them to give to needy people in the mid-willamette valley. If you can't give money, then please give them what they directly NEED.

 

Salem Women's Crisis Service needs in particular old used cell phones (working or not), baby wipes and all baby supplies, packaged snacks, gift certificates for hair cuts, new socks, cold & cough medicine for children, new underclothes for women and children and feminine hygiene products.

 

HOME Youth & Resource Center needs in particular backpacks, hygiene items, socks, gloves and hooded sweatshirts.

 

If giving to one or both groups, please include items in seperate bags/boxes so it's easier for us to keep everything where it needs to go. Also, please remember Chuck's food drive for St. Francis Homeless Family Shelter & Queen of Peace Catholic Church. There is a barrell at the Speakeasy and it would be nice to see lots of folks bring some food this weekend to fill it up. Chuck has said that many organizations and businesses are cutting back this year on Christmas/Holiday dinner baskets so a lot of people who would have been fed will now not get one.

5th Annual Illuminata Regatta - Light Up Your Kayak or Canoe

This year will be the 5th Annual Illuminata Regatta! Somehow, in our regattas thus far,we have only attracted daring women boaters, but this year we are going for being a bit more aggressive with making this a coed event, which is to say, ALL ARE WELCOME!  Requirements are having a compentent handle on how to paddle your boat, appropriate clothing, a personal floatation device, a whistl, and no alcohol. So get creative with your lighting and join us! Invite your friends to float or watch!

Where: Launch from Riverfront Park Boat Dock by the Sternwheeler in Salem, Oregon.  Float in the Slough  (NOT in the main river channel)

Time:  5:00pm - 5:30pm Meet on the dock.  6:00pm launch time.  Usually out of the water around 7 or 7:30pm

Afterwards: Group gathering at a local eatery (to be announced)

Virtual Dating comes to Lavender Womyn Personals

 

The most exciting news I have to share with you this week (which is pretty exciting) is our newest feature on the Lavender Womyn Personals.  Now remember, the LW Personals is not just for singles, but it's also for couples and families with kids to connect and develop friendships as well.

 

We have added the newest Virtual Dating Technology available to our personals dating site.  Many of you are probably familiar with virtual worlds where you can go in, wander around feeling lost, and have strangers come up to you whom you know nothing about.  But, with our virutal dating feature, you get to choose who you want to go on a date with.  Then, you and your date get to go on a date together from the comfort of your home in a randomly chosen setting with music playing in the background, different interactive gestures, laughing, yawning, text chatting and a couple of games to play in order to get to know each other better.  It's safe, it's fun and it'll give you a better idea on whether or not you want to continue to get to know this person beyond an online environment.
