Help the Homeless & Their Pets in Lane County

The Egan Warming Center is a coalition of community members representing service providers, religious congregations, nonprofits, and social activist communities and local government who have come together to ensure that homeless people in Lane County have a place to sleep indoors when temperatures drop to 28 degrees or below between November 15th and March 31st.

Kylia and Joann are co-coordinating the pet kenneling at Egan Warming Center.  So far, pets have not been allowed at the Centers, unless it's a very special circumstance.  So, there are a lot of cold animals and their people out there that have not been able to access the Center.

The first location where this will be kicked-off is First Christian Church downtown.  They are amazing people to host the Center and, now, agree to the pet kenneling!  The crates will be indoors and it will work much like the pet kenneling at Homeless Connect.  Joann or I would be glad to give you more detail. 

We are looking for volunteers to help out.  The most needed are people to work at the Center in the pet kenneling area.  You can check out the website www.eganwarmingcenter.comfor all the details on shift times, training, etc.  You have to go to a training before you can actually volunteer.  Basically, the Center is open from evening until morning when the temperature drops below 28 degrees.  They have three shifts per night available.  Again, see the website.

We'd also love to get more kennels - really need the large and extra large airline-type kennels, but we will take the wire ones and small and medium as well.  Blankets, leashes, collars, water dishes, cleaning supplies would be appreciated as well.  We are trying to keep it simple, but small bags of food for the guests to take with them in the morning would be nice.  We don't have the capability to re-bag at this time.  I will be glad to coordinate with you on your donations.

Eastside Boomer's Brunch - Portland Lavender Womyn

Portland Lavender Womyn meet on the last Sunday of every month at the Old Wives’ Tales restaurant at 10:00am.  The Old Wives’ Tale is located at 1300 East Burnside (at Sandy Blvd).

Portland Lavender Womyn members meet for Sunday brunch and enjoy good food, good friends, and good conversation.

*Diversity Celebrated Here: Though this event was originally created to accommodate "Boomers" ages 45+, it is open to PLW members and their friends of ALL ages.

Corvallis-Albany Lavender Womyn Social Event

Corvallis-Albany Lavender Womyn social at Rileys located at 124 Broadalbin St SW, Albany.

Come have food and drinks, play pool and throw darts, if you want. We'll be in a separate party room, although it won't be "private" space.

Rogue Valley gets a Lavender Womyn Chapter!

I'm excited to annouce that the Grants Pass Lavender Womyn's chapter has done so well that they've split off into a new chapter called Rogue Valley Lavender Womyn.  This chapter will service the cities of Rogue River, Gold Hill, Central Point, Medford, Eagle Point, Shady Cove, Cave Junction, and Ashland.  The new chapter was created to better meet the needs of the women so they don't have to travel as far to socialize with community.  The Rogue Valley chapter just started last week and they already have 17 members and growing!  The Grants Pass chapter has 24 members.  These women are doing a great job in building community in their areas.  Many thanks to Jamie, Lee, and Phyllis in their diligence to lead.
