CC Slaughters & The Bella Boys Softball Team present a 70's Disco Inferno! A special fundraiser to send our undefeated team to the World Series for 2010! Featuring DJ Robb spinning the hottest gay disco hits like "Ring My Bell", "Knock On Wood", "I Will Survive" and more! Dress in your best retro 70's bell-bottoms or polyester and dance the night away! A special Team Player Jock Auction, 50/50 Cash Raffle and 100% of all the Jell-O shots goto the Bella's Travel fund. Oregon Lavender Festival ~ Sun., 7/11, 9:30 AM-12:30 PMn b

Let's visit the Yamhill Lavender Festival featuring live music, art, exceptional handmade crafts, live plants and lavender in myriad forms!

Spend a lazy summer day in Yamhill's Beulah Park while you feast on lavender-inspired cuisine along with a glass of local beer or, wine. Wander among juried artisans' booths ... sit in the shade of the oak trees ... learn to make lavender crafts. Home of the Oregon Lavender Plein Air Art Show and Sale, the Yamhill Lavender Festival offers paintings created by artists from around the Northwest who paint the blooming lavender fields for two weeks prior to the Festival.

This cooperative event brings local lavender growers and community volunteers together. Discover lavender products, fresh cut lavender for purchase, essential oil distillation demonstrations and lavender growing advice from experts.

Admission is free. Canned food donations for our “Help Our Neighbors” food drive appreciated.

To carpool from Portland, we'll meet at 9:15 AM at the Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade, at SE Main X SE Water. We'll wait 10 min. to give people a chance to arrive and park and leave no later than 9:30 AM.

THROUGH THE ENTIRE MONTH OF JULY, The Culture Shock Community project, and Clockworks Cafe & Cultural Center will be offering FREE Culture and Community Classes to Salem & The Mid-Valley...courses designed FOR the community, BY the community.

Each class is open to the public. No registration is required...just drop in and participate. This diverse collection of courses spans all kinds of interests and styles. They are totally free and open to all.

Portland Lesbian Choir

Have you heard the buzz?  The Portland Lesbian Choir is *back* -- and sounding hot!  You can hear them at the PLC concert this Saturday, 7:30 pm:

 

The Portland Lesbian Choir presents, "Let the Sun Shine In," Saturday, June 26th, 7:30pm at Rose City Park United Methodist Church, 5830 NE Alameda St,* Portland 97213.  The Choir will perform popular selections to "Nourish Mind, Body and Soul," under the direction of Kirsten Hart, supported by Assistant Director Anya Lysak and Accompanist Sarah Jarvinen.  

 

Tickets are $12 at the door/ $10 advance, available at the Flying Cat Coffee Company, 3401 SE Division St.  Students and seniors receive a $2 discount, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

The concert includes a benefit for Esther's Pantry, which provides food for those living with HIV and AIDS.  Donations of non-perishable food items will earn entry into a raffle sponsored by Just Out.

Salem Lavender Womyn's Event

Our next monthly coffee event will be on Saturday, July 3rd at 11:00am.  This event will be held at Journey's Metaphysical store in downtown Salem.  You might be asking..."Why are we having coffee at a store?"  Well, Journey's is owned by Lavender Womyn members Torrii and Lisa, and they have recently added coffee and tea to there list of products.  Here's what Torrii has to say about their coffee and tea products...

 

"We made the back part of the building into a tea lounge. So there are tables and chairs as well as two couches. We have Jasmine Pearl Loose Leaf Tea in 14 different varieties and sell it in 3 different size pots for here, or you can get it to go. We also have Royal Kona Coffee now in Regular, decaff and five additional flavors."

Come Be a Part of "Til Death Do Us Toby!"

For the short film "Til Death Do Us Toby" Christine Havrilla and Gina Daggett (lipstick) wrote an original song called Hightail for the credits, which will run with various outtakes and photos of the crew/cast (think Cohen Brothers, There’s Something About Mary-ish).

HERES WHERE YOU COME IN! After the credits, we want to cut to Christine Havrilla singing with her guitar, a tight shot as the song hits the bridge (or crescendos) and then pull back for a wider shot revealing as many people as we can get behind her singing the chorus, which is very catchy. "Gotta break free, gotta survive, gotta find a way to stay alive. I just wanna run, I just wanna scream, I just wanna hightail out of this dream. It’s a cool song and it should be a great shot, maybe everyone’s hands in the air swaying. Also for this shoot, we are also going to capture Christine Havrilla singing the whole song (still with the crowd chiming in at the end) for a music video to go on iTunes that will be intercut with her singing and scenes from the short film.

Just days away from the 2010 Lilith Tour kick off in Calgary on June 27th, Lilith is seeking social media ambassadors to document each tour stop in 140 character fashion. Here's how it will work...

Lilith will be giving one lucky show-goer per market, backstage passes, photo passes, press conference access, and most importantly, the opportunity to represent the global Lilith community. Armed with a mobile device, the social media ambassador will share photos, tweets, videos, and more, documenting his/her experience at Lilith across the official Lilith Facebook, Twitter, & YouTube Channel.
