More Info	On March 4-13, an unprecedented coalition of local organizations will stage an historic film and public engagement event featuring the NW premiere of the acclaimed film BAG IT!, together with an entertaining collection of musical guests, elected officials and local celebrities. BAG IT!, through a worldwide lens and in a gripping yet funny manner, tells the compelling story of our use of plastics and, particularly, the single-use... plastic check out bag. The Oregon Legislature, which convened Feb. 1, will consider a statewide ban of these bags. Why? Who’s behind it? How will it impact your life? Through this illuminating film and special guests, BAG IT OREGON! will tackle these questions and invite Oregonians to weigh in and decide their own future. The Grand Premiere is March 4 at 7pm with the bill sponsors, junk to funk fashion, and VIP guests TBD. It continues nightly at 7pm, each screening presented in an interactive manner with a different coalition host. Suggested Donation $2-$5 About the Film: In 1997, Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman offered to pay for the senior prom at Charleston High School in Mississippi under one condition: the prom had to be racially integrated. His offer was ignored. In 2008, Freeman offered again. This time the school boar...d accepted, and history was made. Charleston High School had its first-ever integrated prom - in 2008. Until then, blacks and whites had had separate proms even though their classrooms have been integrated for decades. Canadian filmmaker Paul Saltzman follows students, teachers and parents in the lead-up to the big day. This seemingly inconsequential rite of passage suddenly becomes profound as the weight of history falls on teenage shoulders. We quickly learn that change does not come easily in this sleepy Delta town. Freeman's generosity fans the flames of racism - and racism in Charleston has a distinctly generational tinge. Some white parents forbid their children to attend the integrated prom and hold a separate white-only dance. "Billy Joe," an enlightened white senior, appears on camera in shadow, fearing his racist parents will disown him if they know his true feelings. More Info	Please join Feminist Film Society this Friday at 7pm as we view and discuss the important and widely acclaimed documentary Very Young Girls. Directed by David Schisgall and Nina Alvarez, this documentary is an exposé of human trafficking that follows 13- and 14-year-old American girls as they are seduced, abused, and sold on New York’s streets by pimps; while being treated as adult criminals by police. The film follows the barely-adolescent girls in real time, using vérité and intimate interviews with them as they are first lured on to the streets and the dire events which follow. The film also uses startling footage shot by the brazen pimps themselves giving a rare glimpse into how the cycle of street life begins for many women.

Come Be a Part of "Til Death Do Us Toby!"

For the short film "Til Death Do Us Toby" Christine Havrilla and Gina Daggett (lipstick) wrote an original song called Hightail for the credits, which will run with various outtakes and photos of the crew/cast (think Cohen Brothers, There’s Something About Mary-ish).

HERES WHERE YOU COME IN! After the credits, we want to cut to Christine Havrilla singing with her guitar, a tight shot as the song hits the bridge (or crescendos) and then pull back for a wider shot revealing as many people as we can get behind her singing the chorus, which is very catchy. "Gotta break free, gotta survive, gotta find a way to stay alive. I just wanna run, I just wanna scream, I just wanna hightail out of this dream. It’s a cool song and it should be a great shot, maybe everyone’s hands in the air swaying. Also for this shoot, we are also going to capture Christine Havrilla singing the whole song (still with the crowd chiming in at the end) for a music video to go on iTunes that will be intercut with her singing and scenes from the short film.
