My name is Aleks and I’m the organizing leader of Q Poetry, a queer poetry network for poets, performers, fans, and everyone else who enjoys writing, reading poetry, and improving their writing skills. Q Poetry is set up as a social network so that members have an trouble free access to information and could easily share their work, while socializing with other poets and writers around the world.
Our network runs a monthly poetry show/slam (every 3rd Saturday of the month) at the Q Center in Portland. This show consists of an open mic, a poetry competition (slam), as well as a featured performance. The Q show started in June 2010 and some of the feature performers so far have been poets like Tara Hardy, Ela Barton, Rose Sims, Elaina Ellis as well as others who have done an absolutely fabulous work with inspiring the public to create, dream, live bravely, and fight for their equal rights among many other things.
