We asked them what their biggest reason for not sticking around was.
40% of members who replied said:

Fair enough. It’s safe to assume many people find our site, create a profile on a whim, and take a quick look around, then leave. However, this survey answer indicates that something this basic wasn’t clear to the member who signed up. As a company, we should look for ways to better engage these casual browsers and make them want to stay, educate them as to how our service operates, and help them see the value of the Lavender Womyn Personals brand.
But I digress. It's the next response that really caught us by surprise:
A full 29% of respondents said:
I didn't believe replying was really free. There had to be a catch.

Granted, most people don’t have an inherent trust for an online dating company they may have heard of only a few minutes prior to joining.
