Scammers are acutely aware of this, so they might try to get you OFF our site as quickly as possible after their first contact with you.

To the point: be wary of anyone that wants to get you to converse via private email or instant messenger right away.

We don’t want to discourage you from moving things off the site once you’re comfortable with a new contact. It’s fine if you exchange contact information. After all, you want to meet people face to face, fall in love, and live happily ever after. But be cautious about moving too quickly, because the staff here at TangoWire can’t see what happens outside of our site, and scammers, fakes, and fraudsters count on this.

Just use caution and common sense, and you’ll be fine. And, as always, have fun!

FREE New Feature: Profile Verification!

Have you ever seen someone's profile and thought "That's too good to be true?"

Well, now you have a new tool at your disposal at Lavender Womyn Personals (http://www.lavenderwomynpersonals.com)

Profile verification is a new feature on our network that will help verify that there is a real person behind the profile. While not foolproof, verification photos deter many fakes and frauds and give us an additional tool to catch them.

This is FREE, so please encourage other members to submit their own verification photo.

Here's what profile verification entails:

1. Write your Member ID on a piece of paper with thick and dark ink in a way that can easily be read.
2. Take a picture of yourself holding the paper. Your face and number must be clearly visible (no sunglasses or hats).
3. Upload it to the site by going to the "My Account" page and click on "Click here to Verify your profile."

Only our staff will see this photo. Other members will see a Gold Star on your profile indicating successful completion.

This feature launched Thursday, February 3, so there's not a lot of people verified as of this writing. However, as word spreads, we expect it to be a great success.
